Intro to Dog slat mill. Available only on first session with Fit4Paws Mobile Dog Gym.
Try out Fit4Paws and see what your dog thinks of it but remember - some dogs take a while to get used to the whole idea!
First Timers session is approximately 20-30 minutes
In order to maximize your sessions - please make sure your dog has been toileted prior to the session.
We service a 30km radius of Perth without travel charge. For areas beyond 30Kms radius, if you are also prepared to travel, we can meet you at a pre arranged destination within our travel radius. ***Please type in the dogs name and the address of your preferred location in the specified box on the Cart page***.
Things to know before your session:
-
To set up, we only require a flat level surface. The van is 2.85m high including A/C, so not possible to fit under cover. If necessary, I will be using my generator for the air conditioning.
-
Exercise gets the motions flowing so please toilet your dog before the session (….it can still happen though).
-
Overgrown/long nails could potentially get caught between the slats (particularly where they roll around the ends) and cause injury. Therefore, trimmed nails are A MUST!
-
Exercise can sometimes come with the risk of GDV/bloat/twisted intestine if eaten or drank too soon before hand. To reduce risk, please have a No food period of at least 1 hour (or even 2hr) before or after mill sessions for your dog. (all strenuous activity)
-
All dogs react differently, even confident ones. Some dogs just get it straight away, while others take a few sessions, some even struggle just to simply stand up. Be patient with the process and your best friend and don’t have expectations for how well or not they do. This is a very new and unusual experience for all dogs.
-
Sessions include the use of our harnesses, but not a requirement if you prefer yours. However certain types are not suitable, like “no pull” or fashion harnesses. Many general pet shop harnesses are not designed for “mill work” or “agitation sports” (ours designed by animal physiotherapist) and we strongly recommend “Y” front harnesses to ensure free movement, unrestricted shoulders and no throat pressure
-
Video/photos are shot by us during your sessions for the purposes of social media and business promotion. If you rather we don’t, please let us know. But be ready yourself, if your hands are free, to capture some shots/footage and tag us in your social media.
-
Also bring your dogs favourite toy/object that drives them, or a treat/tasty morsel of high value to them, that will help the desire to move forwards to get it.
-
For the welfare of your dog, they must be in good health, and it is the owners responsibility to talk to your vet/dog physio, making sure mill work is suitable/safe activity for your beloved best friend.
-
Any activity, including using equipment, carries risk. We take all possible care with your best friend to keep them safe. However guarantees cannot be made, particularly if there are unknown underlying health issues that may have an impact on your dog.
- All dogs need to be fully vaccinated.
Feel free to contact me for any questions or concerns and let's run some dogs!
