Benefits of Running Your PAWS on a Treadmill

Sense of Achievement, Greater Focus and Confidence Improvements

  • Overcoming an achievable challenge is an empowering and wonderful feeling….. it’s just the same for your doggo
  • A safe and controllable method to introduce dogs to a suitable level of challenge that we work through together to build the dog's confidence is, Mill work in our sessions.
  • Far less distractions in the van’s enclosed environment enable us to help dogs to feel confident and focused on this new task. Teaching them to trust us and themselves and growing in pride and confidence for learning this new challenge.
  • Paws feel powerful, feel invincible! And that’s an amazing gift to give them.

Paws and their Behavioural Challenges

  • Unfortunately some dogs come with behavioural challenges or fear in public outings or “off leash” activities. Our urban planning and infill, with limited space is compounding their challenges and suppressing opportunities to run their hearts out.
  • The only time that multiple dogs run together in the van (two mills side by side) is when they live together or are proven friends/compatible playmates.
  • Fit4Paws is open for all dogs, no matter their history or current emotional state. If they are trained for and require a muzzle they are very welcome.

Health Benefits to our paws on the mills

Slattmill  training is far more than just walking or running, utilising different muscles, balance and brain training - it promotes:

  • Metabolic rate increases
  • Increased calorie usage (great for weight loss)
  • Increases in both performance, endurance and stamina
  • Better mobility on mill and possible improvements off the mill
  • Improved fitness has the byproduct of injury prevention, increases in bone density, muscle growth and strengthened connective tissues
  • Even when at a slow and steady pace, they are focusing, balancing, engaging their mind, core, stability and leg muscles.
  • Inflammatory conditions (joint pain, arthritis etc…) potentially improved prevention

Diversity and Improvement in Obedience

  • Even with awesome obedience, mill work gives all new experiences to allow more challenges driving improvements
  • For advanced dogs try including obedience drills, while in mill work, when the dog is experiencing high arousal and drive - let’s see what we can get done!
  • Teaching a fur missile to walk and control their urge to sprint, when the chance arises!

Other Reasons

  • Fit4Paws is climate controlled! Meaning no problems for weather extremes - too cold, too hot, too windy or too rainy?
  • Time poor - need to break up long stays on their own? For suitable dogs and after a few sessions, I’ll come to your home, run your dog and return the Paws nice and tired
  • Handler/owner injury, post surgery or disability - physically unable to walk your dog? Of course we can get your paws exercised for you!
  • Pulling your arms off walking on the leash - mill work is a perfect outlet for those heavy pullers, while you are working with a trainer on your loose leash walking techniques.

If you want to do cool fun stuff with your best mate - then book a session and welcome on board!
